Development outsourcing in India - pros and cons
Everyone knows that developers in India are cheaper than even in the regions of Russia. Why then do not everyone outsource development there? What are the pros and cons? It is very interesting to hear any stories from your experience.
Of course, development is different. I am primarily interested in mobile applications, but if you have experience from another field, it will also be great.
I apologize in advance if the topic has already been discussed on Habré, I did not find it. Thank you.

I think everyone has heard about the term "Hindu code". Poor quality is the main reason why everyone does not outsource to India.
I myself had a chance to delve into the Hindu code at the job before last - I did not last long.
Not everyone should be lumped together. The choice of where to outsource depends on what exactly you want to receive. Quality development is expensive everywhere (even in India, Russia, China, etc.). Competent and professional developers are also everywhere.
No matter how old, but for projects where high quality was required from the first version of the product, it was most effective to attract people from the USA. Despite the high hourly rate, the overall cost effectiveness was high due to the quality of the result (it is built into the culture there), the low cost of managing people and the ability to directly connect developers with clients, third-party companies (Payment gateways, hosting, partners, etc.). .d.).
When it comes to average streaming development, there is really a very high chance of running into a quiet horror with Indian companies. I prefer not to participate in such projects, but if I have to, I prefer to outsource to Russia or the countries of the former union (in particular, to Ukraine). Knowledge of the language, culture, understanding of people minimizes risks, and hourly rates are in principle comparable to India.
