There is a term paper topic: "Development of procedures for working with XML objects in MS SQL server".
Maybe you have a couple of recommendations in which direction I should dig? What procedures already exist for xml, and which ones could be created? So far, I have not yet encountered even just SQL.

You can make XSLT transformation by ... trigger! What for? Say migrating to a new XML data schema.
