Development of iOS and Android applications. Is it worth it?
This topic is by no means new. Probably, there are already so many people who are already developing / writing applications for iOS and / or Android.
The question is, how profitable can it be?
I'm not talking about any specific figures or profitability. So, in general. Can this direction become a matter of life, so to speak.
I would like to know the opinion. Perhaps someone is already doing this.

I would look at it from this side:
1) It seems to me that it makes little sense to engage in both iOS and Android development at the same time. For at least two reasons. The first is that the areas are rapidly developing, and in order to stay at the forefront of technology in at least one of them, you will need to regularly spend time learning new things. It is better to know one platform well than two poorly) The second - customers / employers who are looking for an iOS / Android specialist in one person - are usually very prone to savings)
2) The profitability of a subject depends on a number of things:
- whether you want to work in an office , in a team or remotely;
- if in the office - then where is this office) In Moscow and St. Petersburg - a lot of work in the field of mob. development and higher salaries. In the regions, the situation may be different (on the issue of readiness to move). The average level of salaries by city can be viewed on Yandex, for example;
- if remotely, what markets are you ready to work on. On the same upwork-e, the rates, whatever one may say, are higher than on the Russian freelance market. A question of qualifications and language skills.
- or maybe you will get the idea to make your own application and conquer the tops of the AppStore)
3) To understand whether this direction can become a matter of a lifetime, in my opinion, only one factor is essential - whether you like doing it or not :) If you don’t try it, you won’t know. If you like it, then there shouldn't be any problems. As noted above, the demand for mobile developers will most likely not go anywhere in the near future.
There may well be a lot of people doing this, but the demand is still high
