Development of children, why do children simplify the world (toys, cartoons, films)?

Such a question is interesting, I would ask psychologists (where to find only those who think). There are a lot of materials where the image of reality is distorted to the point of abstractionism, on the labels of toys they expose an inflated age (for designers, for example), the toys themselves are sometimes wonderful. Everything is clear about safety and emotional / sexual perception. It is clear that with the richness of visual images, the child's fantasy can run wild, but this is not a reason to draw moving geometric RGB primitives. The approach to paint everything in poisonous and bright colors is strange, for some time there will be interest in the subject for sure, but is it right to form interest in this way (craving for shiny, bright; the store probably paid attention to the behavior of children). I myself remember in childhood few people played with soldiers with the calculation of moves in a match, usually the whole game consisted of sounds with saliva and crash tests of figures, which seemed ridiculous and incomprehensible to me. A rattle, in fact, is an unspeakable "shut up", how long does a child have to manage with such a primitive knowledge of the environment? :)

Psychology works for the needs of society, and its need is not to develop anything, but to sell. The child's psyche perceives everything in a rather limited way: the simpler and brighter the toy, the more attention it attracts. This attention is enough to acquire, and not to give any installation for development.
It is difficult to say when and what should be given to a child - development issues are very individual.
Some cope with the designer at 2-3 years old, some at 5. In any case, parents need to make their own decisions and take on the appropriate responsibility. There are very few high-quality products on the toy market that could develop or with which it would be interesting for a child to play ... but he will still ask you to buy something.
If you decide to buy instead of a child, a conflict situation may arise. After which he will completely refuse to play with what you buy him. On the other hand, you can try to explain why you are doing this. Or make it so that he himself wants to purchase quality products and understands the difference.
I had "a couple of bags" of junk as a child.
And when I asked for something useless, my parents just poked a finger at the bag.
On the other hand, my only toy was a children's designer ...
Everything else was enough for a maximum of a couple of weeks.
I think building blocks, drawing, cars (with track), and dolls are the most versatile toys for 3-5 year olds. Before that, cubes, trains and rattles ...

Spend more time with your child, play with him, read books, draw, along the way explaining and telling everything, even if it seems to you that the child does not understand anything. After all, the main foundation of a person's worldview is laid at the age of up to 3 years (! not formed, but only the foundations of perception). Until the age of 5, try to lay down all the best, as the child is "formed" from his environment. After 5, the child will basically form his own personality. Do not miss this moment, as it is your responsibility. Do not let toys, television, other people lay the foundations of your child.
Maybe I didn’t quite answer your question, but I wanted to share my opinion on the general topic of raising children, based on the literature on this topic and the accepted experience from communicating with happy and “complete” families, in my opinion, including large families (4-7 children).

toys labels overage

And there are toys that adults can play too =)
Why? The nipple is the unspeakable "shut up". And the rattle involves the motor skills and hearing of the child.
The more bright, positive colors, the happier the child. Would you like the toys to be gray? :)
Summarizing, I will express my opinion that the problem is overblown. There are a lot of toys for children and educational ones as well.
PS I'm not a psychologist

Bright toys are not the problem of this world, there are many more tasks. And high-quality and good toys are expensive and the question arises, if you cannot feed and clothe a child, then what toys can be. We got a quadcopter here for a 7-year-old child, he likes it and doesn’t need cubes, soldiers, or even a bicycle.
