Deploying an Express server with nginx?

How to deploy an Express server so that nginx would proxy requests, as I understand it, you need to separately run the nginx http server on port 80 and the expresss server on the local port 127.0.0.1:3000 and proxy requests, but this does not work. It gives a 404 error for any of my requests
