Debian Xen VPS and custom kernel rt. Is it real?
I needed to run a real-time kernel on Debian Xen VPS (clodo.ru, Oversun), because the standard kernel (Debian Squeeze, 2.6.32.26) fails to achieve the required performance of game servers. I found a manual describing the process of optimizing the OS kernel (I chose 2.6.31.6). Everything went smoothly until the “Preparing for boot” item. No manipulations with /boot/grub/grub.cfg, /boot/grub/menu.lst and /etc/default/grub failed to boot the OS with a custom rt kernel, the standard kernel was always loaded.
Question : what adjustments to the manual can be made by the fact that I apply it to Xen VPS and is it even possible to run kernel rt under these conditions?

Perhaps the hoster just always boots up his core, and the rude just ignores it?
you can specify in the PVM parameters
kernel = "xxxx"
ramdisk = "xxxx"
and then your grub.config did not give up
Are you sure that he has problems with the response at the kernel level, and not applications?
Besides, how can you expect realtime in the cloud then?
Any Dedik seems to me to give a much better response than a cloud when the neighbors are slightly shitty.
In addition, there are always slow disks in the clouds, if you have some kind of database with a disk running, then you need to raid or change something else.
XEN is different, here is an article on this topic: habrahabr.ru/company/nqhost/blog/117310/
