Debian on a flash drive - how to extend the life?

It is necessary to install debian 9 on a flash drive so that the flash drive does not die in a few days.
Of the options: 1. Move everything unnecessary to
tmpfs and
disable logging
used in embedded systems such as routers.
As I understand it, I need to first configure the OS, then wrap everything in squashfs, and use overlayfs to record changes. I just don't quite understand how to put it all together.
I am also considering other simple ways to extend the life of a flash drive.
The machine with debian is a home file washer, it will work 24/7, there is a UPS, shutdown will be only regular means

The problem was solved by itself when I looked at how the OS was installed on factory NAS. For example, Synology bites off part of the hard for itself. I tried to implement something like this - it didn't work out very well. I scored, I decided that it’s better to just buy a small SSD for the OS, and you can add ports with a controller

You can look towards porteus ( www.porteus.org/). It seems to be just sharpened to work from a flash drive. And there seems to be no extra write operations on it. It's really not debian.
