Database of cities, regions and countries?

Hello! I know that the question is already beaten. discussed in many forums. But I did not find anything fresh and really worthwhile.
We need a database of all cities, regions/regions and countries. If the names are in several languages, it will be just super.
It seems like this is the most complete one https://github.com/x88/i18nGeoNamesDB , but it is from 2013 (if not earlier), and there are now 251 countries.
But the most interesting question is how to keep this database up to date? Is there a way to parse the changes?
