CUPS what password?

I installed cups, the printer was found and configured without my participation. I'm trying to change the settings but a login and password are required, root / root is not suitable.

or
your user/password of your user, if your user is in the desired group.

The password of the user who has admin rights to the printing system on the host where CUPS is running. Can be root, can be any member of the lp group. If your account is already in this group - use the username and password from it.
