CS106A - Programming Methodology by Stanford University - up to date?

Accidentally found the course , watched the first 2 lectures, installed eclipse, I like everything. But the idea that the material is dated 2007 is haunting.
My goal is to get acquainted with the topic of programming and java in particular. How relevant in this regard is the introductory course of 9 years ago?
