Cryptography in web development?

I study in the specialty "cybersecurity", we study all sorts of subjects, including the specialty where we studied number theory, now we have reached elliptic curves. We teach C/C++ programming. Although I myself study PHP / JS, layout and in general I try to study the web, I want to develop in this direction, I am making my own website. The question is: does a web developer need knowledge of cryptography, all sorts of Schnorr algorithms, etc. ?

For "regular" sites, this is not necessary. Mostly what is in browsers is used.
In unusual ones, it is sometimes used - the same miners on js, or strong encryption on the client in some instant messengers or file hosting services like mega.
But such tasks are very rare.

No.
Only basic principles: what is a public key, what is a private key, etc.
