Creative PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio CA0110 & Ubuntu?

Please tell me how to make such a sound one with Ubuntu 10.10, or rather with ALSA.
OSS do not offer.
It says here: X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCIe) - CA0110 - [PCIE] does not work, however, on the forums they write that in theory it should work.
Solution:
1. Updated alsa and pulseaudio from Ubuntu reps.
2. https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-audio-dev/+archive/ppa - Installed package linux-alsa-driver-modules-2.6.35-24-generic
3. Reboot
4. It works!

Supported by alsa-driver since version 1.0.15. That is, it should work.
If it still doesn't work:
1. Do you see it in Jack? If so, try switching the inputs and outputs
2. Check the vendor ID and model in the conf
3. I'm not sure exactly what will help solve the problem, but it's useful to use a realtime kernel for working with music. To do this, install the linux-rt package, reboot the machine - there will be an item with a realtime kernel in the grub menu. At least get the effect, like from ASIO under windows.

linux-rt - this is the name of the package, it is equally successfully found through apt-get, aptitude or synaptic. It's really a realtime kernel.
In this case, the point is that latency is reduced and the sound quality is greatly improved, regardless of the type of sound card. This effect is especially noticeable on weak machines. But it also makes sense on powerful computers.
Audio applications (from LMMS to JACK and Audacity) will automatically force the audio driver into the appropriate optimal state if the rt core is available. Those. in ubuntu - just install this package, reboot and that's it.

I also suffered with this card six months ago, then I installed the oss4-dkms package and it all worked. It is supported in the latest builds of OSS.

And why does oss not suit you? You can connect it directly to pulseaudio instead of alsa, and connect alsa itself through the plugin to pulseaudio, and then all applications that require alsa will work as they should. In general, many applications already support output through the pulse, so Alsa can be removed altogether. This scheme works for me with a bang.
