Create a reminder via email/sms on Google NOW?

On Habré, I came across an article about a bot - a reminder for VK. ( https://habrahabr.ru/post/216001/)
At the bottom there is such a comment:

А Google Now чем не устроил с его календарем. В последней версии там и напоминалки можно забить легко прямо из клиента. Да даже голосом можно сказать — типа «Напомнить завтра вечером купить батарейки». Единственный минус то что не у всех андроид. Да и то лечится легко. Забиваешь событие с напоминанием СМС или по почте.

I would like to know how this can be done. Googling didn't help.
I just need a reminder. And yelling at a smartphone in the office and at home is not customary yet. It's better to write quickly.

I suspect that they did not mean adding by SMS / mail, but a reminder through them.
