Connecting to fpt server via vpn?

Good afternoon.
Faced such a problem. I need to connect to ftp server via vpn. I set up a Vpn connection, but I can't connect to the ftp server. I looked through a bunch of articles on the Internet, but I did not find anything sensible that is suitable for solving my problem. When connecting via vpn, I am given the ip address 10.81.10.*. The ftp server has an IP address of 176.100.240.*. I used both total commander and filezilla but nothing happened.

Friends, after much research, I realized the error. The matter is that the ftp-server to which I wanted to be connected to be in a private grid. The ip address I was trying to connect to is not the ftp server I needed. I learned this when I started sending pings from my computer and from a computer that is in vpn. The result, of course, was different. Thanks everyone for the help!

The easiest way
When creating a VPN, you have at least 2 ip addresses issued.
Client and Server
For example, it may be different for you, but I can guess.
Server 10.81.10.1
Client 10.81.10.2
traffic between them should go
try icmp requests to check from the client address
ping 10.81.10.1
Next, try to connect to it on port 21.
If it doesn’t work, check if port 21 is open. If it’s open and listening, then you need to check, for example, through nmap
For Windows, you need to download it, for Linux, the command looks like
nmap -p21 10.81.10.1
if it writes open, then you didn’t guess with the password.
If closed or filtred see firewall or iptables settings.
If you don't want to fool around
And if the admin says that everything is open, do it from your computer.
ping 176.100.240.*.
If there are answers, then great, if not, perhaps the administrator did not register a route for the VPN route.
If there are answers, then do
nmap -p 176.100.240.*.
If open, then the matter is in the password,
closed the admin did not open port 21 for you.
