Connecting a server to an existing one through the second port of the network card?

Good afternoon. There is a server Dell r420 (# 1) which at present carries out function of a terminal server and in combination there work in 1C through MSQL. But lately the server has become unable to cope with the load and it was decided to transfer all SQL to another server (#2) and cut it directly through the second port of the dell'a r420 network card (#1).
I connected using a crossover patch (is this correct?), but server #1 does not see server #2 on the network.
On the server #2 registered IP and mask from the same subnet.
Can you please tell me what to look out for in this issue?
If you need any further clarification, I'll be happy to provide.
Thanks in advance for your reply.

The settings are as follows:
1 network looks to LAN
Addressing is ***.***.0.0/24 (or in Windows format ***.***.0.10 with a mask of 255.255.255.0)
2 network looks to a neighboring server
Addressing is * **.***.1.10/24 (or in Windows format ***.***.1.10 with mask 255.255.255.0)
Neighbor server
Addressing is ***.***.1.11/24 (or in Windows format ***.***.1.11 with mask 255.255.255.0)

Do not suffer from bullshit and poke the second server into the switch.

"From the same subnet", that's your problem. You now have two different networks, the addressing should also be different.

Set up a bridge between two cards, and there will be happiness.
