I support. Studied networks according to Tanenbaum. The book is comprehensive.
During the summer holidays, I read Tanenbaum on an e-book. The book is divided into 6 files, so I managed to read only the first one. I really liked the writing style: everything is clear and detailed. After each chapter, there are a couple of tasks to find out what you learned from what you read and what you didn’t.
The author was advised by his grandfather, he read his book "Computer Architecture".
Kos_GNOM is right: tomorrow I'm taking the annual exam (already today), I've been preparing for this sem using both sources. Olifers have some inaccuracies and minor errors, but many topics are described better (in my opinion). Many things they described are frankly weak (TCP for example), Tanenbaum helped me out there. So buy both, it will be a good investment.
I read Olifer, though the third edition. Girl for Valentine's Day gave :)
Chose between Olifer and Tanenbaum. As a result, I ordered Olifer.
