There is such a book (I saw it for sale in the Restore) - “OS X Mountain Lion Basic Guide”. It will not replace a live person next to whom you can ask a question, but it will tell you about the system (including Safari, of course) in a fairly accessible language at a time when there is no one to ask. In general, I recommend it as a desktop, but its presence does not cancel the courses.
