Computer game developer - where are they taught?

The situation is as follows, I am 20 years old and now I am entering the SSTU (Saratov). I want to learn how to develop games, get a base for further development in this industry, and in general understand what kind of cuisine it is and what is cooked in it. If someone from Saratov, please tell me which specific profiles will definitely help me get comfortable, because there are several of them, some are more expensive, some are cheaper, but they all seem to teach the same thing.

The university is not an assistant in this regard, everything will fall on your shoulders. There are no adequate programs in Russia (and I'm even afraid of employers who will take you under guardianship).
To understand -
well, in general, to understand what kind of kitchen it is and what is cooked in it.

You need to know / study -
1) algorithms and data structures: lists, queues, trees, graphs and operations with all this;
2) linear algebra and geometry: operations on matrices and vectors;
3) computer graphics: raster and vector, representation of images, three-dimensional objects and scenes; graphics hardware architecture and rendering pipeline (since games, the emphasis is on realtime graphics, not photorealistic graphics), shaders; specific graphics APIs: OpenGL 4 and DirectX 11, Vulkan and DirectX 12;
4) C++: basic language constructs, OOP, FP elements, standard library (don't neglect it), then templates;
Next, take the engine, and try to do something to show the employer at least some skill of working with the above.
GameDev - where to "step", and how to get there for training?

Gamedev is a vast field with many roles (specialties). The main ones are a programmer, an artist, a game designer. Less obvious - producer, project manager, marketer. And so in the development and / or maintenance of a decent game, there may be a community manager, or some kind of database administrator, or a back-end developer, etc. That is, these are ordinary professions that are not directly related to game development.
First, choose what exactly you like, and then you can already think further.
Accordingly, focusing on the technical component, not every role will suit you. For example, the artist is unlikely to fit. Although, you know better. And here, too, everything is not so simple. Conditional "artists" can be conditionally divided into purely illustrators, modelers, animators, etc. Special writer - more related to game design, but in fact it is a writer. There are also those who work with sound - also not a very technical specialty.
As you can see, it's hard to talk about some abstract game developer . There is no such thing.
Of course, in theory it is possible to make the game alone. There are examples. But this is practically not realistic. In this case, you will need to combine all the roles in one person. Team development is easier and faster. Even if the team consists of only 10 people, and there are several roles for each team member, it is still easier than when all the roles are combined in one person.
