I don't want to install FTP, but I'll get by with FTPS, but don't store the root password here. How to make it more painless for the server?
I'm taking my first steps, don't kick too hard :)

To do this, the server must have support for FTPS, not to be confused with SFTP - this is via ssh.
Login and password as on FTP.
And if you are talking about the root password, then you are definitely confusing FTPS and SFTP.

FTPS = FTP + SSL, not ShellFTP.
