Communication between servers located in different data centers?

Yes: Two servers in different data centers. The servers are part of a single distributed application. Both servers have white ip.
Question: How to organize communication between them?
The first thing that came to my mind was a VPN.
Please tell me the best way to do this. Thank you.

ipip/gre. It’s just not clear why you can’t just communicate at the allocated addresses)?
Or do you need encryption?

i would choose openvpn, cross platform vpn

Go to direct white addresses. If you need encryption - SSL. Need authorization - certificates/passwords, protection by IP addresses.
