Clean links in Drupal 7

I forgot to turn them on during the initial setup. Now when I go to set them up, when I click the "Run 'clean' links check" button, the page reloads and nothing happens. The logs are empty.

Most likely, the .htaccess file in the root of the site is missing.

you can include them in the database.
No, I can't say for sure. but searching the database for dryupal system tables will save you. there should be a field responsible for clean_urls.
