Choosing and configuring a chat (IRC?) server

Colleagues, please advise the right software, or even better, a human guru in setting up a chat (IRC?) server, such as UnrealIRCd. Need advice + work on deployment and configuration. I am looking for an online game that I am currently working on - www.startowns.ru . At the moment there is OpenFire + jQuery.xmpp and it's just hellish hell, we want to forget it like a bad dream. We need an out of the box solution with a convenient setup of the authorization model and ready-made AJAX and stand-alone clients (that's why we looked towards xmpp and IRC). Tips to write a bicycle in Node.js are not accepted :)

UnrealIRCD is one of the most common servers in the CIS.
You can ask in a personal, I will help in any way I can, I have been deploying my last IRC server for 5 years :)
