Cheap SSL certificates?
What services for issuing certificates can you recommend?
I'm currently using a free certificate from startssl. But these certificates have a serious disadvantage - they only work with one domain and subdomain. Ideally, you need a certificate with a wildcard so that you can encrypt traffic on all subdomains. Since all this is only for personal use, low cost is important.
Are there options or is a cheap certificate a myth?

A lot of time has passed, but suddenly someone will need the information.
Free certificates for one domain - now there are wonderful automated services like LetsEncrypt .
UPD: Wildcards like *.yourdomain.tld have been around for a couple of years now. Confirmation of wildcards - via DNS.
And convenient alternative certbot clients like acme.sh have appeared.
Startsl just has a certificate like *.domain.com, I myself use this one. The receiving process is exactly the same.
They also have very fast and adequate support. If something does not work out, then you can ask them directly. Although, obtaining a wildcard certificate from them went without problems.
I can assume that initially the certificate request file (csr) was for a specific subdomain and therefore the certificate corresponded to it.
The cheapest SSL I could find https://rus.gogetssl.com/domain-validation/comodo-...
Lately we have been buying at High Cloud . Prices are lower than hosters, and the service is much better - they helped with the installation on a clean CentOS.
GoGet has one problem, but a significant one. The company is registered in Latvia and does not have an authorized organization on the territory of the Russian Federation. Therefore, if you need to pay for SSL from a legal entity (in the case of WildCard, a very common situation), then you may encounter hemorrhoids.
I would also buy from specialized projects for the sale of SSL certificates, but from the Russian Federation, not Latvian ones:
ISPsystem - from 6,776 rubles /
yr nic.ru (only with organization verification) - from 23,000 rubles /
yr FirstSSL - from 6,793 rubles / yr
