Certificate for proxying nginx?

Greetings! Tell me, did I understand correctly that if requests to my domain and all subdomains are proxied by a machine with nginx, then in this case, in order to use an https connection with my domain and third-level domains, a certificate needs to be installed on the machine with nginx?

If so, how to configure nginx config?
Like nginx listens on port 443, certain names, but proxies to 80?

That's right. Visitor <-> Nginx+SSL:443 <-> Apache_(or_whatever_there):80 .
