CentOS 7 + Zimbra 8.6.0 How to set up a mail server correctly?
Good evening, colleagues!
After the advice "boy, don't start deploying Exchange Server" I started digging towards Zimbra.
It has everything you need for a small corporate network, (well, open source)
I allocated myself a test virtual machine and installed CentOS 7 minimal assembly there.
Then I started setting up bind and then errors started to appear.
The fact is that this is a test machine and it provides only local DNS (correct if this does not work).
First settings in /etc/hosts and /etc/resolv.conf
Then creating forward and reverse zones in /var/named.conf
But systemctl start named failed.
Further, systemctl status named.service shows that named is not running (non active) and a bunch of other events have been logged.
?
I decided to test and removed the reverse zone, restarted named and rebooted
the machine, - I check the status is Active (but some remarks regarding the format of the zones) dnscache, proxy and memcached. Everything is ok, unzip and install. At the end, at the very last moment, it complains about the inability to resolve the name of my test domain. of course, I manually write the domain that I wrote in the file for the zone, then he again swears that he doesn’t understand what it is, skip the message and go to setting up the administrator account, password and apply the settings. And here everything collapsed:
Name or service not known at /opt/zimbra/libexec.zmldapinit line 138.
failed. (5632)
ERROR

*** Running as zimbra user: /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmidapinit
Configuration failed
please address the error and re-run /opt/zimbra/libexec/zmsetup.pl to
complete the configuration
Tried removing it completely and reinstalling it. does not work.
On the one hand, I guess that the whole problem is most likely with the DNS.
But I don't know how to set it up correctly.
Below is a line with errors that I dug up in the logs (please do not scold too much if the error is obvious):

zimbra works very badly with local zones, this time
, besides, zimbra needs certificates
and you didn’t issue them to her
if you have a local zone, then why is the dns server
10.0.0.10
8.8.8.8
8.8
. dns
