CentOS 6.2 Dell PER310 (Solved)
Hello Habra community!
I ran into a problem with the installer (CentOS-6.2-x86_64-minimal.iso) not seeing the hard drives.
I read that you need an extended driver with which you need to recompile the kernel.
Are there easier options? Or is it all about the lining?
Sincerely!

Is there a driver? If yes, then do as with the installation of centos 6x for adaptec 6805 for example.
i.e. it is loaded from the disk until the graphical shell appears, then press ctrl+alt+F2, in the console do insmod drivername.ko, then ctrl+alt+F6, back to the graphical installer.
In general, an approximate manual is like here:
blog.ranzhe.ru/2011/12/centos-6-adaptec-asr-6405e.html
put ubuntu. it will really make things easier for you. Centos isn't exactly designed to be installed on fresh laptops.
Options:
1. connect the screw via USB and install CentOS on it. Then recompile the kernel with the required driver in the chroot, connect the screw via sata. You may need to edit fstab at the end.
2. Use desktop distributions. In this case, the neighbor is Fedora.
The kernel version, as I understand it, is 2.6.32, and the server has SAS disks. Support for SAS in the kernel seems to have appeared only since 2.6.33. However, I could be wrong, I don't remember very well. So check it out.
CentOS is very slow to pick up the new, it is updated quite rarely. I'm afraid that I can count the options on my fingers:
1. Compile by hand
2. Wait for the new version and hope that the MB will be OK in six months
3. Install the OS with a fresh kernel, but this will be testing with 99% probability.
And what is the difficulty of recompiling the kernel?
