Carrying a hard drive with information on an airplane

Greetings.

After some time, I fly to Thailand with two transfers through Munich and Abu Dhabi. I'm taking two terabyte hard drives with me in hand luggage. I know that nothing will happen to them. The question is:

1) Will they find fault and ask for a check?
2) On one of the screws 50 gigs of software for makosi. But any software for poppy can be freely downloaded without a license. Will there be any problems here?

Well, in general, what theoretical problems can arise?

I constantly have a terabyte and a pack of flash drives in my backpack, I cross borders several times a year, including the most paranoid ones, such as the United States, for example. Fuck everyone. Neither laptops are checked, much less disks and flash drives. The most they asked me to do was turn on the laptop to check if it was fake. And then, it was once in Pulkovo, on the flight St. Petersburg-Moscow and one more time in Moscow when landing on the Sapsan. In general, Pulkovo has a rather strange security service.

I didn’t fly across the border, but I carried several hard drives inside Russia - there were no questions.
The second point is that you can store program archives on your drive in unlimited quantities, but you can use them only under a license

I drove all the information that could theoretically be of interest to the inspectors into a file-system-in-a-file, looked at as a loop device, after which I unmounted it and threw it into the wilds of ~/data/old/from_old_server/backup/db/ under with a name like db_dump_20120816, along with several others. You can also encrypt, if you're paranoid to the end.

I don’t know what problems there might be ...
If you are afraid of screening the digital part, then everything is simple - encrypt the partition and say that you are bringing new empty disks.

Naturally, with a probability of 99%, questions will not arise for you. If you don’t act suspiciously or you don’t come across someone especially curious and proactive, then there will be no problems. But there is always this small chance, although I would not bathe.

Inspection is more of a pro forma, they can get to the bottom of liquids more in hand luggage, they are evenly treated with equipment, they threw it on the tape outside the frame - everything, they don’t ask to turn it on, they sometimes ask to get it, because it doesn’t shine through on the detector.

Well, look - you will go through customs control only in the Russian Federation and Thailand, and these are not the countries where there is an interest in the information you are transporting. But for example, with the USA, Canada and the UK, everything is more interesting - they often inspect laptops, flash drives, etc., I think they certainly won’t pass by 2 hdd.

You have an increased paranoia mode :) You don’t need to transport distributions on hard drives across the border ... it can be stupidly merged onto AWS S3 ... so don’t worry.

Che just did not transport from iron, there have never been problems. Unless they look and that's it.
Now, if you were carrying an open bottle, then, and even then, from personal experience, they don’t always find fault.

There was just an experience in Munich - the control was interested in my hefty bag with photo equipment and all sorts of gadgets. They took me to a room where I took everything out and laid it out on the table, they selectively made strokes with a brush and put the tests into some kind of apparatus. Most likely, they checked for traces of nitrogenous compounds - whether they were explosives. The laptop and flash drives did not interest them at all.
It all took about 10 minutes, most of which I put everything back.

Carried a bunch of times kopeck piece and portable 500 GB.
Including in Europe and even in China, where they inspect everything but did not find fault with the screw.
I live in Thailand myself, so they definitely don’t find fault there pumainthailand.com/
