Can you build a big 3D printer yourself?

Tell me, is it really possible to assemble a large 3D printer at home, with a side of a meter to two, what problems can you encounter and will it be necessary to modify the firmware?

the biggest problem is that it will be a hard custom with a corresponding price. parts that can be bought from the same Chinese are simply NOT SUCH SIZES.
those. You will have to find somewhere the mechanics you need, the electrician you need.
and finally, the extruder is a standard nozzle 0.4-0.5 mm. Can you calculate how many passes it will take to print a thing a meter high? And how much plastic is needed for this? And most importantly, how long? a simple printer prints something like 30 mm3/sec. Even if we assume that all mechanics (which will obviously be heavier and more inertial) will move at the same speeds, then the detail in a meter * meter * meter will be printed know how much? more than a year ! 1,000,000,000 mm3 / 30 mm3 / sec = 33 million seconds = 555 thousand minutes = 9,259 hours = 386 days.
The firmware itself, I think, will not need modification. 120 mm and 2000 mm - the difference is only an order of magnitude with a small one, there should be enough bit depths there. Although given the orders of time, I would double-check here.

I am sure that you do not need such a printer. If you need to print one-time something large - see here: tsar3d.ru/.
