Can Wemos D1 mini be powered directly from a Li-ion battery?

It is necessary to power the Wemos D1 mini board from a 18650 lithium-ion battery. The battery voltage jumps from 2.5V to 4.2V (for reference). Can this voltage be powered directly? If possible, which pin: 3.3V or 5V? Or still order a booster board up to 5 volts?

Take this power module for example. And the charger is organized and you can immediately get 3.3v so as not to use the power converter on your board.
