Can the phone's battery fail to charge due to incorrect insertion?

I bought a new battery, it only charges with a frog
when I put it on charge through the phone, it shows that it is charging, but this is not the
case
. The battery is not from my TF, I noticed that it is on the other side, that is,
most likely the polarity is wrong. Could this be causing it to not charge?

If the polarity is wrong, then the phone would not work on battery at all.
