Can the calculator screen be repaired?

Perhaps this question is not very close to the topic of Habr, but I have nowhere else to ask it.
There is an engineering calculator Brilliant BS-130. When entering numbers / commands, the characters are not displayed completely, in pieces. One has only to guess about the result of the operations. As you understand, it is extremely inconvenient to work, and it is a pity to throw it away. Is there any way to bring the screen to life? Or does the calculator's path lie in the trash?

@Fastto

on cheap multimeters, the rubber band constantly leaves, especially if the gum goes out into the sun and the rubber band shrinks.
The paper gasket between the board and the case under the screen helps - it lifts the board and it "holds out" to the necessary contacts

It costs $7 - buy a new calculator.
