Can't save changes in terminal on mac. How to leave nano and save changes?

When exiting nano, the commander asks whether to save the changes, but the answer YES (y) does not work, i.e. when you click on Y, nothing happens, but the answer is no or the close works, it turns out to exit without saving the changes.
