Can I switch to GameDev if you are a website developer?

Hello everyone, happy holidays! Guys, help a colleague in the issue of changing jobs, please (:
Working on these New Year holidays, I wondered about changing activities, if I may say so:
I have been developing for several years, doing back-end in python. I have a job and everything is fine, except for I got a little bored, and began to think at my leisure that I would like to learn how to make games (by the way, I have already begun to master unity in small steps), but I am interested in the issue of employment ( It's not about money like: "how much will I receive" , but how long the process maybe before I get any work) because my friends say you'll make some tags, although I'm ready to join the team again with Junior's zeros, etc.
1. What do modern gameDevelopers learn? for example do I need my python and its wonder library like pygame? or there is work conditionally for back-endera.
2. And what do novice developers actually do at work?
3. Well, actually I would like to know if there are people who also passed from one sphere to another, what stones they caught, how long it took and how interesting this process was.

There are not enough backenders in game development: you won’t find it with fire during the day, go. Maybe even give good money.
For a large number of games, the backend is no different from a regular site, except that the pages do not need to be rendered. In general, game logic is not the biggest piece of the server when it is done on it.
Gamedev is no different from any other development. It's just a myth. All the same problems, all the same criteria. Unless the employees are less disciplined, but it depends on the team.
On a python, servers are quite well sawed (both directly gaming and infrastructural). Wargaming is not complaining. There is also Python on the client (in the same tanks, for example), but it is not used so actively in the industry.
Pygame - few people use it, it's more like a hello from the past for tutorials. But you can find engines with python bindigs.

And I'm migrating from GameDev to the bloody enterprise :)
For a general understanding of Unity3D, you need to know, but remember that now almost all games are mobile.
You need to know and understand Android Studio + java, google play developer console, basic SDKs with analytics and advertising, services like Pushwoosh, etc. (for ios corresponding technologies).
Free to play monetization requires logging EVERY user, analyzing the result, conducting A / B testing and constantly improving metrics.
I recommend https://app2top.ru/ for a general understanding of the market.

In python, you can write a backend for games.
You just have the wrong question.
In fact, you have a question like "if I write in python, will it be difficult for me to master unity".
In essence, games are the same programs as websites or business applications.

I was in my university years and a little later I worked on the backend on node.js and .NET. Unity mastered independently in his spare time. By the time I got my first junior position, I had a portfolio with several screenshots of game sketches. Experience on Unity was then less than 2 months + a simple toy written earlier. Now I work mainly with VFX (particle system) and a little bit of logic, while studying engine tools.
Backend and hardware in this area is a big advantage, they can really put you in jail for developing server logic and not even a junior. Also, everything depends on the level of C # proficiency - in the unit it is the main scripting language. And then - purely from desire, if there is - you will learn quickly.

Yes, it seems that serfdom was abolished, you can at least move to the janitors, even move to another city
