Can I remove the SIM card from the modem?

The modem is installed at a height of about 12 meters. Is it possible to remove the SIM card (for the possibility of quick replacement) from the modem by about 7 meters? For now, I'm thinking of soldering a twisted pair cable, but I doubt that the signal will stably pass through such a length.

Maybe the other way around? Lower the modem by 7 meters, but why should it be so high, bring it out or leave it at the top?
