Can I give my Digital Ocean username and password to developers?

Making a mobile app for iOS. The developer asked to create an account on Digital Ocean and give him a username and password. I have concerns that I linked my credit card to my account. In this case, how to protect yourself so as not to get into an unpleasant situation? We have not worked with this developer yet, so there are concerns. Or perhaps there is a way to untie payment data?

I would advise discussing this with the developer.
Usually we have these passwords of yours like fool candy wrappers, no offense.
And when we ask for access, there is a reason.
Just talk and you yourself will calm down and the developer will be pleased.
However, I'm sure there are guest accounts that you can control.
In general, trust people and do not mess with "muddy types"

Ask the developer to explain what and how much he plans to use.
DigitalOcean will attempt to charge the card on the 1st of the following month.
Before that, you should look there once a day in order to keep track of expenses in the Billing section.

It is possible .
But, as they say: trust, but verify .
And one more thing: to be afraid of wolves - do not go into the forest .

It won't steal your card details, so don't worry.
The worst thing he can do with your money is to rent a more powerful server than you really need. And that is more out of stupidity than malicious intent. In addition, with digital ocean prices, even the most expensive instance there costs incomparably less than the budget of a normal project.
But it will be much easier for the developer to set everything up himself than to lead you by the hand and say "now uncheck the box here, now enter the es as a dollar here"
