Can I change ami to AWS reserved instances?

1) I want to use reserved instance, but I don’t quite understand if it’s possible to update its ami?
2) In addition, as I understand it, it cannot be replaced with a new one? Those. have to sell?

RI is simply a way to pay for instances, which indicates how many resources will not be counted towards the final bill. Of course, while the instances fall under the conditions for which the discount was purchased.
