Can an external hard drive be connected to the PC all the time?

PC is on all the time. Could it be some kind of overheating or something similar with the hard drive? 2 terabyte disk. Sometimes I try, a little warm.

No, there shouldn’t be anything, but in your computer the hard drive is also constantly working, and everything that moves slightly heats up, especially at such speeds as in HDDs and disk drives, or what current flows through, especially chips, this is physics.

For two years I worked 18 hours a day on a hard drive)
There was a system and programs. It was a hard time :)))
So I think nothing terrible will happen to you)

And how does this external differ from what is inside the computer, laptop? If nothing, then nothing will happen. Let it spin for days :) Do not lie under the sun's rays in order to avoid overheating.

Maybe. After all, in terms of cooling, it is more advantageously located than the internal one.

Up to forty degrees if it is heated - do not pay attention.
If closer to 60 - already bad. Very
If you say slightly warm, it means a little warmer than your palm, and it is 34 degrees, which means that the disk is about 40-45. This is normal temperature.

It may well be that I have had an external drive connected to my computer for several years and it has been working continuously.

I hit it with my foot and goodbye 2 TB.
And so it will lie as much as you like, only it is necessary to isolate it from the body.
