As for the update - in the latest retinas, NOTHING can be replaced. Everything is soldered - so take it right away with a margin of 2 years.
Look at the model according to finance. I would take a late 2014 model with IrisPro and 16 gigabytes on board. There is a model with Nvidia750 - but if you do not get involved in games, then it is redundant.

You can type on a macbook, the main problem is testing - it is solved by installing several virtual machines, there is plenty of power for this on modern machines. Retina has already firmly entered the present and is supported everywhere.
So that there is no desire to upgrade in a week, you just need to buy a fairly powerful laptop right away, with enough RAM and an SSD. The pace of development of iron has been rapidly falling for a long time, macbook models technically change little, so there is practically no point in upgrading.
