Can a site consider frequent requests as spam?

I don't know how to ask the right question. I am fond of programming as a hobby, so the question may sound stupid. The point is this.
I want to write a parser that will access certain sites at a rate of about once a minute (maybe more). To be more precise, it will be an aggregator of orders from freelance exchanges.
Is this frequency of requests to sites considered normal, or is the site likely to identify this as spam? Will ip be banned?

It all depends on the specific site/server. I don't think they should.
Once a minute is fine, once a second is a lot :)
