Yes, sometimes they ask. But VERY rare. For those who ask - can + set off. But it is 1-2%.

If the employer googles you by name and finds a good profile, probably yes. True, a profile named asdf123 may not be found. :)
It makes sense to link to GitHub / StackOverflow - for those who are in the subject, they mean something, and the rest will ignore.
