Can a new power supply be used in a very old computer?
There is a very old
IBM NetVista computer (like 42).
It seems to have all the iron in it, except for the power supply. There is also a second computer with a power supply, it is from 2012. On the power supply 24 pin power supply to the motherboard, on the motherboard 20 pin how to get out of the situation ?.
PS: Also, there is no BIOS battery in the computer, will it start? The computer has not been turned on for more than 10 years. Are there any dangers? :D

Yes, you can. In many modern power supplies, 4 pins are detachable (20 + 4). If connector 24 and there is space next to the connector on the motherboard, you can safely connect it. If there is no space, you can take a 20 + 4 or 20 pin connector from another power supply unit and transfer it (pins on latches - you need a thin screwdriver or something similar). Well, or just barbarously cut off the extra 4 pins with a clerical knife. You can turn it on without a battery - the BIOS settings will not be saved and the time will be reset, so it's better to put a battery in.
