By what principle do applications / games for iPhone break down?

Is the hacking algorithm the same for all applications, or do you still have to rack your brains and look for holes?

They break the same way. The service responsible for checking whether the program was purchased (installd) is being patched. Further, the person who bought the program can copy it and distribute it to those who have this patch. This is for most programs. But some authors still add additional protection, the same bijiv (ICQ) or Skype (stsuko. Free, but the jail detects and swears).
So it was on 2.x-3.x. Further I do not know, because I changed the platform.

You always have to break your head, even if you do not break something. There are only general principles and approaches, but each application is unique, and therefore each has its own set of vulnerabilities.
