We want to stir up one web service with a friend, which requires a windows application. The source code for a similar application is available on the github in the public repository.

Question: can we fork it and use the forked code in our application? If yes, on what terms? Will there be any restrictions?
I would also appreciate any links on the topic.

And you ask the authors what kind of license. And ask yourself what license your code is under.
