Buying a domain from a competitor?

My site and a competitor's site are in the top 10 Google search results, and if I buy out his domain and do a 301 redirect, will my domain's link mass increase? Can he go up in search?
The competitor is lower in the search results.

Why the hell would you buy other people's headaches? Engage in the development of your project.

if you buy it, then make a separate project / site and post somewhere a link to your main one.
do not post the same phone numbers, addresses, passwords, appearances, so that the sites for the PS are of different companies.

Not worth it.
Only if you buy and run 2 projects in parallel - it makes sense.
