Faced such situation:

Is vmware vsphere 5.1 by the machine with a floor-mat. Intel S3420GPC board with LSI SAS3041E (SAS1064E) raid controller installed.
Through vmware and through guest OSes, it is not possible to remove RAID indicators.
You need a boot cd to check what's going on with the RAID at the moment: the two-drive cages are amber.

Help, please solve the problem.
