Best Linux distribution for VFX'er?
Hello toasters :)
That's the question. I work in Autodesk Maya 2016 & Houdini . I want to switch to Linux. Due to the fact that good companies require knowledge of Linux. But the fact is that Mike is available under tench, but only for those distributions that use .rpm packages. I have searched the Internet and found 2 distributions that are more or less friendly and popular. They are Fedora , Opensuse .
So, I’ll say right away that there are all sorts of Photoshop, etc. I don't need it, I can get by with GIMP, Inkscape, etc., if I really feel like it, I'll install VirtualBox.
I would like to know which of the distribution kits I provided is suitable and will work stably with Maya 2016 & Houdini.
You can also offer your distributions that you consider necessary. I would be happy to consider them.
The main criterion is stability, availability of the latest drivers for the nVidia GTS 450 card, full compatibility with Maya 2016 & Houdini, system friendliness.
Thanks in advance.
