BBCode and pictures?

Problem:
I'm making my forum based on vanilla. The forum does not have the ability to attach pictures to comments, but I really want to. To do this, there is a BBCode and tags like [img].
But the problem is that all pictures on free hostings disappear sooner or later. On rutracker, for example, there are a lot of links to pictures that lead nowhere.
Therefore, I have two options:
a) Find a normal image hosting, possibly paid. Are there any? To be reliable, with a user-friendly interface and without a crazy amount of ads.
b) Make a simple image hosting on your server. Is there any software available for this?
c) Write or find a custom plugin for vanilla.
Perhaps the habra-brain knows about this better than I do. Thanks for the comments!

There is no single answer. Will pictures be an important part of the content (articles, etc.) or will users just insert pictures to catch lulz? If the first, then it is better to integrate tightly with the forum, in extreme cases, your own separate image hosting. If the latter, then you don’t have to bother too much, let them pour it wherever they want.

Does vanilla seem to have addons for attachments?
It seems like there are no separate scripts as normal, since this is a common feature in CMS.
External hosting - Picasa for example. You can download and use the API directly from the editor.
There is a resize by url and in general a lot of charms.
You can make users able to connect their accounts on pikas.
The same can be said about flikr and probably a few other giants like Yandex.
