Ban for inactivity on upwork?
I heard that upwork often bans, for example, because you send applications, but no one agrees... the profile just hangs, does it affect something?

Yes, you heard right. This is a protection against spam and stupid freelancers who send the same type of template offers like "hire me".
If there is no account activity at all, there will be nothing to worry about . The only thing is, put the status "do not need a job" in the settings. This is to prevent you from being sent invites. For there is a profile status "response time to invites", where it is desirable to keep it in "answers during the day." And if all the same an invite arrives, but you are not interested in it, try to refuse it as soon as possible (within 24 hours), choosing one of the reasons in the list. Rejection of invites does not affect the rating in any way, only the response time.
Z.Y. When I'm looking for a new order, I get 60 free "connections" (2 per application) a lot, because I choose very meticulously who to send a job offer to. Either the task is blurry or not interesting, then the prices are not the same, then the conditions are suspicious, then the client is somehow not trustworthy, then they have already been hired. But some, especially beginners (when registering they give 90 connections for the first month), all these points manage to miss a couple of hours on the first day. Sending out offers to everyone. So it turns out that the system is struggling with such. Increasing quality. So don’t say it, but there are millions of us freelancers from all over the world, but there are only thousands of employers with money.
At the moment, I don’t know such cases, I myself have not been active for a very long time, there is no ban
