There is a workstation with w7 and an ubuntu 11 server.
Advise how to set up a backup of user files from windows to a file storage under ubuntu.
How to link both OS (samba)? On which side to run the software and which one?

If everything is very "production" :), then use bacula (bacula), the thing is put on Linux, kills on Linux and Windows. A very cool thing, it can do a lot of happiness or sex.
It has a web muzzle with statistics.
The software part is divided into 3 components - 1. Central daemon, manages work launches
2. Data storage management
daemon 3. Daemon for clients (Linux / Windows / there are GUIs)

Windows 7 also has a "Backup and Restore" section.
You cut the recovery block, and on the server you specify the location for storing the archive.
