Authorization server outside the application + vpn, does it make sense?

VPN

There are 2 servers that are not on the same network.
On the first server, the site is spinning, on the second, the user's authorization on the site. Whether there is a sense between them to lift VPN?
PS servers are not very powerful...

VPN is not always encryption, encryption is not always VPN.
You need encryption and protection, sort of.
Your network - does not make sense.
The network is not yours - it makes sense.
The network is yours or not, but the data is critical (money, personal, card data and data) - you need it.
